GEA Process Engineering

The core business of GEA Process Engineering is to provide spray, freeze, and solid drying equipment as well as related solutions (e.g. automation and optimization) to customers in the dairy, food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries worldwide. Together with other GEA departments, GEA can supply entire production lines to their customers.

The ambition of GEA Process Engineering is to provide more sustainable solutions to customers by a higher degree of process integration, new process equipment, and new energy utilities (e.g. high temperature heat pumps). When introducing heat pumps in drying plants, GEA wants to provide integrated solutions to customers with focus on (1) automation to ensure production is not affected by heat pump operation, and (2) design and dimension criteria for reducing investment costs while maximize energy savings. GEA is already working on the integration of high temperature CO2 heat pumps in spray drying plants, but alternative solutions should be explored as well as solution for other drying processes; hence their interest in this development project.
